

Passed away September 30, 2018 at the age of 87 after a long illness at Mease Continuing Care, Dunedin FL. She was born in Ames, IA on June 27, 1931, the daughter of Dr. Dennis and Ina FitzGerald. The family relocated to Washington DC in 1934. She married in 1951. After earning a degree in Home Economics from the Univ. of MD in 1953, she taught at an elementary school while putting her husband through Dental School at Georgetown University.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was the center of her family and made sure everyone gathered together on a regular basis.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Dennis W. FitzGerald. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Edward E. Golden of 67 years, and her son John T. and his son Jeremy - both of Fayetteville, GA and his daughter Michelle of Washington, PA; her son Dr. Robert F of Oldsmar, FL; her daughter, Suzanne B, her husband Louis M and their sons - William and 2nd Lt. Army Edward - all of Sugar Land, TX; and son Kent E and his wife Denise J, and their daughters - Lindsey and Ashley - all of Clearwater, FL.
In 1955, they settled in Dunedin, FL and built their home in Fairway Estates and dental office in downtown. Marge was always active in Dunedin’s good works including founding member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Dunedin Youth Guild and Dunedin Junior Service League.
She loved participation sports and was a member of the Dunedin Golf Club, Innisbrook Tennis Club, Countryside Tennis Club and was the proud owner of many honors and awards there. Duplicate and social bridge was a long-standing hobby. Marge and her friends started a bridge club over 50 years ago and they still meet twice a month at Mease Manor; although it is more social than bridge now. It is still a long-standing friendship affair.
Marge was an avid camper taking long summer trips with her family and visiting almost all of the states and a good bit of Canada, as well as, numerous national and state parks. She traveled to many countries and even sailed with her family in their own 38’ boat in the Virgin Islands.
She and her husband retired in 1993 and built a waterfront home on Lake Tarpon before moving back to Dunedin’s Mease Manor in 2012. Her family will miss her dearly and remember all the good times we’ve had together.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 11:00 am, St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 705 Michigan Blvd in Dunedin.
