Marquis D. Hopkins

January 26, 1966 – May 22, 2016

Hopkins, Marquis D. 50, of Palm Harbor, passed away May 22, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Tracy; his son, Dontino; his mother, Valerie (Lorenzo) McGriff; brothers, Wallistein Hopkins and Brandon Hopkins; sisters, Kaitlen McGriff and Pasha Lowery; step-mother, Deborah Hopkins; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Wallistein Hopkins, and his brother, Dayton Hopkins. Marq was a Physician Assistant at Florida Sports Orthopaedic & Spine Medicine. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 2PM at Harborside Christian Church.

We were Blessed to have had Marq in our lives for 12 years. We moved in across the street from Marq and Tracy in Oct. 2004, within in days' neighbors became friends and friends became family! He was a wonderful friend, neighbor, and Doctor. There were several times we would call on him to come over to examine one of us and was even there before during and after my surgery, he came in my house to checked on me before he even went into his own house. Always the one to make sure everybody else was ok. We would stop each other in the street just to talk. We have shared many of the joys in our lives and many sorrows as well. We had a lot of good times together over the years and we will cherish our memories of Marq.
Tracy, DJ and family, we love you all and will always be here for you.

I remember growing up with Marquis on Stoney Crest Drive in Middletown and then both of our families moved to Colchester. He was always such a kind caring person. My condolences to the whole family.

It seems like yesterday we were laughing and having fun in the Halls of HK High. You always cheered everyone up and were so positive. Know that so many people will miss your kind soul.
