Born on July 29, 1941, to Venita and George Ward McMullen, Mary grew up in Safety Harbor, Florida. Her childhood memories were filled with stories of climbing orange trees, running barefoot through the grove, and sitting with her daddy on the front porch as he smoked his pipe. She treasured her childhood and always said she wouldn't change it for the world.
Always described as “sweet,” Mary is perhaps best captured by this word. She was caring, loyal, and always ready to spoil her family. She was most proud of her daughters, Jessica and Kylie, and their families. She loved being with her family more than anything, especially eating out, sharing a meal, and simply spending time together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Venita McMullen Farriba and George Ward McMullen; her husband, Arthur C. Shaw; and her sister, Sharon McMullen Sanborn.
She is survived by her two loving daughters, Jessica P. Shaw and Kylie Shaw Shrum (Warren), and five grandchildren who adored their Mimi: Hannah Casey, Elias Rodriguez, Maia Rodriguez, Isaac Rodriguez, and Gunnar Shrum. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Corlette “Cookie” Richitt, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins who will always hold her dear.
Mary leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will carry her love with them always. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Psalm 116:7
Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.
Until we meet again…
