

Born on May 24, 1958, in Richmond, Virginia, Matthew was the cherished son of the late Trula and Daniel Casey.
Matthew’s life was marked by a deep love for the things that brought joy to his heart. He was not only a talented tennis professional, but also an incredible cook, bringing warmth and laughter to countless family dinners. Matthew’s love for music and karaoke added a special touch to these gatherings, filling the room with happiness and creating memories that will always be treasured. His passion for Tampa Bay sports was a reflection of his deep love for his community and a testament to his vibrant, infectious spirit.
Above all, Matthew was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and treasured friend. His legacy of love, kindness, and loyalty lives on through his children, Trula (Damir) Mesanovic, Shane (Laurinda) Casey, and Alivia Wicker; his grandchildren, Susanne Mesanovic, Logan Mesanovic, and Liem Casey; as well as his siblings, Daniel Casey, Peggy Jensen, and Martha Bombardi, and his stepbrother Jamie McHale.
Matthew was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susanne Casey, whose memory he carried with him every day. The love they shared continues to inspire all who knew them. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of the many family members and friends whose lives he touched with his kindness and generosity.
A visitation will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida 33759, on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Following the service, Matthew will be laid to rest beside his beloved Susanne at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
