Nancy Center felt it was time to go & live with her Lord and Maker. She desired to be with her parents and 4 brothers as they all had already passed on & were waiting for her in Heaven. She was looking forward to a time when she would be made whole again and she could leave behind all of the pains of a mortal life and that this change was the reward for a life lived in which she was always strong in her Faith & with God.
She passed away in Largo, FL – a place where in younger years she would take her children who survived her, Tim and Brendan, to spend a week during summers playing in the white sand of Indian Rocks, Maderia, or Reddington beach & swimming in the Gulf of Mexico. She loved her children fiercely – she protected them, educated them, and spent quality time and energy making memories with them that will linger long after her passing on June 7, 2026 at the age of 95.
Born in Bay City, Michigan to Grace and Arthur (she loved to say that she was a “work of Art”) she grew up the youngest of 4 siblings, Victor, Paul, Marlin & Bob. After their father died, Nancy’s mother Grace, moved to Pinellas Park, FL. Later, her brother Bob followed to Pinellas Park as well to live with Grace. Nancy and her husband Dan moved to Tampa in the late 1960’s for work and they settled there and raised their 2 children. Nancy was creative – she took up Tole painting and stained glass & created many beautiful things. After her children were grown and she retired from Tampa General Hospital where she had been an administrative assistant, Nancy sold her home on Davis Island and moved to Clearwater to be close to her brother Bob. Bob, her elder brother, looked out for her as a youngster and ended up being one of her best friends throughout her life. They traveled the world and enjoyed each other’s company on cruises & vacations over the years. She will be interred next to her brother at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, FL on June 21, 2026.
If I can share a bit of my mom’s wisdom with you, it would be these things; Don’t lie - You never have to remember what you have said if all things that come out of your mouth are the truth. Your family are those people who have known you the longest – Love them unconditionally, forgive, be there when they need you…. Be there for family, be there for friends, make the time in your life for them. Make the time, pay attention, don’t miss the chance to not only tell the people you love that you love them, but be present and show the people who you love that you love them. At some point, you will run out of time and there will be no more opportunities to do so.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Nancy’s favorite charities the Bible Broadcast Network or The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or World Wildlife Fund (WWF)
