Born on April 11, 1938, in Monsey, New York, Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late Irene and Joseph Governal. She graduated from Spring Valley High School in Spring Valley, New York, before earning her degree in Education from the University of Alabama.
Nancy dedicated her life to educating and inspiring others through her distinguished career with the East Ramapo School District in New York. Her passion for teaching and commitment to her students left a lasting impact on countless lives. After retiring in 1994, she and her husband relocated from Spring Valley, New York, to West Palm Beach, Florida, where they embraced the warmth and sunshine of their retirement years. In 2016, they moved to the Tampa Bay area to be closer to their cherished family.
Nancy was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star and found joy in many hobbies throughout her life. She loved playing tennis, mahjong, and bridge, and especially enjoyed square dancing. While these activities brought her great happiness, nothing meant more to Nancy than her family. She treasured every moment spent with those she loved and found her greatest fulfillment in caring for them.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Norman I. Schlosser; her loving daughter, Ellen (James) Tackett; her cherished grandchildren, Joanna (Michael) Pettine and Leslie Tackett; her beloved great-grandson, Wade Dailey; as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will forever remember her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love.
Nancy's legacy of compassion, dedication, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Nancy's memory.
