The Master Carpenter received a new apprentice, Ned Frisbie, on Monday, November 9th. All who were blessed to have known Ned, knew of his passion and love of woodworking. Ned always saw something beautiful in every piece of wood. Ned's wit and willingness to share made him a favorite teacher to many students. Originally from Bryan, Ohio, Ned started teaching at Bryan High School where he taught welding. He later moved to Clearwater, where he taught Mechanical Drawing at Clearwater High School. From there he taught Architectural Technology at what is now St. Petersburg College. Upon retirement, he and his wife Jackie, moved to Germany where he taught woodworking at the American High School, in Nuremberg. Feeling that you're never to old to teach, or learn, Ned continued to seek opportunities to do both. His final teaching occurred while living at The Hampton, in Clearwater. While living there, he found an unused and unloved wood shop and turned it into a workable facility. Using his skills, he taught many residents, including women, how to use the tools to make beautiful creations of wood. Ned was an Eagle Scout. Even into his 70's Ned continued his service to scouting by serving on the Board of Review for Eagle Scouts. Ned was a US Marine and served proudly our country in WWII. One of his greatest memories was participating in Honor Flight which takes WWII veterans to Washington, DC to see the memorials. He was a devoted husband, wonderful father, and delighted in time spent with his grandchildren. Ned was preceded in death by Jackie, his wife of 58 years, and son-in-law Randy Segner. His legacy lives on in his survivors; daughter Jule, of Jonesboro, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law Jode and Brian Eye, of Clearwater, grandchildren; Whitney and Jarrett Dixon of Safety Harbor; Meredith Eye and Tyler Peterson, of Tampa, Jessica and Dylan Kepes, of Norcross, Georgia, and great-grandchildren; Tyler, Archer, and Piper Dixon. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Skycrest United Methodist Church, 2045 Drew St. Clearwater. Along with your prayers, and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ned's name to: Clothes To Kids 1059 N. Hercules Avenue, Clearwater, Fl. 33765.
