Noel Charles Balthasar, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 26, 2026. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Noel spent his childhood in New Haven, Connecticut. He attended Fairfield University and received his Master's Degree in Mathematics from Fordham University where he met Lucille A. Balthasar, the mother of his children.
Noel dedicated his life to service, learning, and helping others. His career spanned several decades and included teaching, work at the Naval Research Laboratory, and the U.S. Department of Energy where he remained until his retirement in 2009. After retiring, he moved to Florida where he enjoyed many happy years.
He was a devout Catholic and friend to all. Noel possessed many admirable qualities, including kindness, generosity, grace, patience and humility. He touched the lives of countless people through his unwavering faith, unconditional love, gentle spirit, and caring nature.
An avid sports fan, Noel was a lifelong supporter of New York teams, especially the Yankees, Giants, Knicks, and Rangers. While he enjoyed his favorite teams, nothing brought him greater joy than following his grandchildren's sporting events.
Noel was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Yvette Balthasar; his cherished brother, Norman Balthasar; his treasured infant daughter, Ann Lisa Balthasar; his beloved Aunt Jeannette Schmid; and many other dear relatives and friends.
He leaves behind his loving daughters Michelle Balthasar, Renee Balthasar, Nicole Daffer (son-in-law Mark Daffer); his adored grandchildren Denise Touse (Kyle Touse), Andrew Daffer, and Owen Daffer. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends.
Though our world will never be the same without him, we take comfort in the many memories we shared and his continued presence in our hearts. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Noel's memory to the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org) or the American Heart Association (heart.org).
