Born in Bear Delaware on October 6th 1936, above his parent’s gas station. Their names were Lowrey and Dorothy Deery. Norman has two older sisters; their names are Dorothy and Sandra.
In 1937, he and his family moved to Capital Heights, Maryland, and then moved to Landover Hills Maryland in 1947.
He graduated from Bladensburg Senior High School in 1954. He then went to night school from 1955 to 1959 in the Carpenter Apprentice Program.
Norman worked at Lamar and Wallace in Landover Hills Maryland from 1954 through 1985. He then worked for his nephew Harold, son of Dorothy, at Suburban Woodwork in Beltsville Maryland from 1985 through 1988. Then summer of 1988, him, his wife, two children, Michelle and Michael, as well as, Michelle’s son Kenny moved to Florida in summer of 1988. He then worked for Creative Woodworking Concepts (CWC) in Tarpon Springs from 1988 through 2000, where then he retired.
In March 2007, we moved to Wellington in Hernando County and then we made our final move to Crystal Glen in Citrus County, July of 2018.
He has known his wife, Betty since 1956; they were married September 10th, 1960, at this time for 58 years.
We have two children Michelle and Michael. Amongst them we have four grandchildren: Kenny, Stephanie, Julie and Monica. We also have two great grandchildren, Hunter and Kenny; they are both Kenny’s sons.
His hobby was model O gauge trains. Through out the years he enjoyed remodeling and rebuilding different train layouts. He also enjoyed attending train shows to see the new trends and different ideas for his train layout.
For entertainment Norman and Betty attended NASCAR races with Sister Sandra and family friend named Glen. His favorite tracks were Daytona Speedway and Charlotte Race Track. He also enjoyed going to local tracks, such as Sunshine Speedway with his son Michael, wife Betty and Sister Sandra. Once he moved to Hernando County he enjoyed going to see the super late models at Citrus County Speedway with his daughter Michelle and her family.
The Great Smokey Mountains, in Pigeon Forge Tennessee was one of his favorite places to visit; the mountains were a piece of art.
He has enjoyed retirement for the last 18 years, spending it with my family and close friends.
