

She was born June 24, 1929, in Tampa, FL. She graduated from Union College in Kentucky where she met her husband of over 60 years, Rev. Donald R. Comer. They served United Methodist churches in Kentucky, Georgia, and throughout Florida before Don retired in 1997. Ola received an M.A. degree in English from Stetson University in Florida and taught in Florida Public Schools for many years. Ola loved writing poetry and wrote thousands of poems over the years. Her favorite topics were nature, religious themes, and family. (Scroll down to see a photo of an original piece in her own hand.)
She loved music, played the piano, and had a beautiful singing voice. She loved daffodils in the spring and autumn leaves in the fall. Her favorite hobby was searching for unloved treasures in thrift stores.
Ola relocated to Kingsbridge Retirement Community in Atlanta, GA in 2016 to be closer to her eldest son, Barry and his family.
Ola was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Donald R. Comer, and her grandson, Matthew Ryan Comer. She is survived by her three children: Barry Lee Comer (and his wife Julia) of Atlanta GA, Kenneth Ray Comer (and his wife Laura) of Fort Myers FL, and Donna Lapcevic of Crystal Beach FL; and, four grandchildren: Jessica Noel Quinones of Crystal Beach FL, Michael Dalton Comer (and his wife Megan) of Charlotte NC, Mary Kathryn Comer of Atlanta GA, and Daniel Jason Comer of Los Angeles CA; as well as two great grandchildren: Emily Kate Comer and Elizabeth Maeve Comer of Charlotte NC.
