Father Patrick Joseph Kennedy

April 12, 1935 - October 12, 2012

Father Paddy Kennedy, age 77, died suddenly, Friday, October 12, 2012 at his residence in Clearwater. He was born in Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland to John and Margaret Markey Kennedy. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Reverend Shane Kennedy, S.M.

Educated in Rome at the Lateran University, Father Kennedy was ordained in Rome February 21, 1959 for the Archdiocese of Armagh in Northern Ireland, where he served as curate in various parishes. He later had been a member of the faculty of Clongowes Wood Jesuit College, Co. Kildare, Ireland. In 1999 he visited the Diocese of St. Petersburg and with the permission of his bishop was later appointed parochial vicar of St. Timothy Parish in Tampa October 1, 1999. Father Kennedy was appointed pastor of St. Timothy’s in 2003 and served there until his retirement in 2011.

A Wake Service will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at St. Timothy Parish, 17512 Lakeshore Road, Lutz, FL from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at St. Timothy Parish at 11:30 a.m. Bishop Robert Lynch will preside.

A reception will be held after Mass in the Father Paddy Kennedy Parish Center.

Following the reception burial will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Clearwater, Florida
