I just seen this and am very upset. She was a loving friend to my mother and my family for a very long time. I am truly at a loss for missing services. I was a neighbor and friend of Patty’s and my son Jay. She was very kind to him. They were great friends. I know Patty talked a lot about her son Evan, and how much she loved him and she was a good person and I liked her very much and miss her. She was a great girl and lady and will be very much missed I know. RIP Patty! You will be missed.

Lou II and I had the blessing and privilege to spend a 3rd Friday with Patti (and Our Awesome friends Dawn and Evan of course). We got to really know Patti that whole evening, learning about her amazing life and Coney Island while chilling at my golfcart having drinks, listening to awesome bands at Harbor Bar. I loved witnessing the fierce love she has for her our Evan, her only son. She was fun and full of life…just like her amazing son. Thank you God for giving us the gift of PATTI that night. And thank you PATTI for giving us the gift of Evan. With our sincerest condolences to Evan and Dawn, Val and Lou II

I met Patti while volunteering with Hospice in high school. She was extremely warm and welcoming from day one. Patti loved socializing with colleagues, took a lot of pride in her work, and was always very grateful for my help. She attended my high school graduation party and occasionally touched base with me over the years. Her memory lives on and I hope her soul is at peace.

So sorry to hear of Patti’s passing and condolences to her son Evan,  her good, dear friend Gary Borstelmann, and all others she was close with. She was a kind and compassionate person, she was the excellent caregiver to Gary’s  Mother Grace for a period of time, and treated all she came in contact with equally and with dignity and respect. She is missed and may she rest in peace.

Fried chicken is my favorite food in the world. But it wasn’t until she taught me to ask the server to “ drop it fresh” did I know how to order it properly.
That’s what I’ll miss the most. She was so smart and knew all about little details in life you may not and shared them.
I’ll also miss reminiscing with her about childhood memories and the fact there was “ a Giant on the Beach” in Gullivers Travels. But the #1 gift she gave me that lasted my entire life was  my insatiable love of lilacs.
She would bring them to Weeks Road School from the bush that grew in front of her house and fill the classroom with that intoxicating wonderful scent, that relaxed me so much and also comforted me that Spring was here, school was ending soon and Summer break was just around the corner.

Patti was a major contributor to fun times shared by Harbor Crest residents. She will be very much missed from our gatherings.

We met our neighbor Patti when she moved in just after us, since we were all newish, we got to know each other somewhat. Her cheerful personality, big smiles & friendliness  will always be remembered in many ways. Cheers to you at your forever happy place,  Patti!

I to am deeply saddened to learn of Patti’s passing. This last winter season I got to know Patti  better than I had in previous years and agree with all the previous people expressing their condolences. She always would have a nice smile and ask how you were doing in that bit of an Eastern voice. I read on an electronic sign during the Mother’s Day weekend, while traveling through a small Wisconsin town, that Mother’s are like buttons, they keep everything together. I texted that to Patti and she thought that was so nice also.
  And so when thinking of Patti, I think of the Mother’s Day message as she tried to keep all of us in Harbor Crest together also. With Friday night movies and participating in Pot Luck and the get togethers that she truly enjoyed. So when traveling along that route in the future, through that small town of Rosendale, I will continue to look for the latest wisdom on the Lutheran Minister’s sign and will always remember about mothers and buttons and Patti of Harbor Crest.
  May she grasp the extended loving hand of God who reaches out to Patti to take her to her new forever home.

The Borstelmann Family has an annual Academy Awards Oscar Pool.  Patti was always a serious contender!  She saw movies, researched awards, reviews and the Hollywood opinions.  In 2018 she WON!!  She was so proud.  Here she is holding the coveted trophy that goes with the over $100 pool winnings!!!  She loved to dress up and be treated like a Princess.  My brother Gary always did that.  Her passing has left a big hole in his heart and in his life.  Things will never be the same without good ol' Patti-Ann.  From making us homemade eggnog, to always buying the family Christmas specialties, to really loving our parents Bob and Grace, we feel a tremendous loss.  Rest in Peace.

Patti was thrilled that I made her these “watermelon socks” because they matched perfectly, she said, with her tropical leggings worn while visiting me on the 4th of July last year. That evening we got great spots right under the Brooklyn bridge where Patti chatted with everyone for the hours before the fireworks began. Her positive energy was infectious.  Thanks to her, we even got great parking, which is a very difficult thing in Manhattan! I think she charmed a police officer into letting us drive the wrong way down a cordoned off street to our pre-paid  garage, close to the bridge. It was such a wonderful night and a memory that I will cherish forever!

Then, she visited me in New York for the last time  in November, 2025. She took me to see Hell’s Kitchen on Broadway and Rise NY.  She was incredibly generous. We had a wonderful time seeing old friends which she loved. I figured that for the next winter visit, she needed a real warm hat and scarf. It was in her favorite color: red and modeled after a hand-made scarf that she had saved from her mother. She laughed when I called and apologized for my fiasco: first, procrastinating for 3 months, then sending her package to the wrong address and having it returned to me and finally having to send it again so late. But, like the good sport she was, she modeled it for me on a usual warm day in Clearwater, FL and sent me this photo. Even with all of that, she told me how much she loved it.  

She was a great friend, and I will miss her so much! I’m grateful that we were able to reconnect in time to renew our friendship at different points in our lives: first in elementary school, then again in high school (she loved that prom pic!) and then in college. There were long gaps between chapters, but it was like we always could start over like no time or distance had passed. How lucky to have such a friend! I am very grateful, indeed! Till we meet for our final chapter, my dear friend! I will always love you!

“PATTI HYPHEN ANNIE” … Patti-Ann and I grew up one block apart in North Babylon NY … She was 3 years younger graduating with my little brother Broadway Jim and I was with Patti’s sister Joanna … 35 years later Facebook rekindled us in Florida … Patti and I hit it off immediately sharing the same nostalgic Music interests and our love for our childhood TV shows especially The Little Rascals and Superman … Patti became my Manager, my Secretary, and my Personal Assistant facilitating my NBA Halftime Career as “The Amazing Sladek” for the last 15 years … Patti was so instrumental for my appearances on America’s Got Talent and The Steve Harvey Show … We enjoyed many Road trips traveling across the country from one Basketball Arena to another … We also enjoyed mutual fun road trips such as the Everglades and Key West … We loved seeing the Gorillas at Disney and the Whales at SeaWorld … We had so many more fun things in store … “Patti, you have a very strong faith my dear, and although I am broken hearted over your sudden exit … until we meet again” All my Love,  Garvekio!

You were always a kind and loving friend, someone who had so much to give to everyone around you. Well never forget the day you spotted that four-leave clover in our yard and picked it for your garden.  It was such a small moment, but it showed exactly who you were- thoughtful, generous and always bringing a little extra luck and light into the lives around you. Your spirit will stay with us, just like the clover still does.

Our sincere condolences to Evan.   Your mother spoke so often and lovingly of you.  The mention of your name was always  accompanied with a huge smile, love, and a twinkle in her eye.  We will miss her kind heart, quick laugh, and her special treats that she always seemed to find time to make for any occasion and get together.  She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.  HUGS to you Evan.

Patti was generous, kind, fun-loving, intelligent, a brilliant raconteur and probably the bravest person I ever met. She was a wonderful mom, sister and friend. You could not help but love her – she was a bright light. She enjoyed life. She was a giver of hugs and big kisses. Frankly, life gave her some hard knocks but she generously gave out of what little she had. I will miss her laugh and her beautiful soul.

Patti, you always were a wonderful person very kind hearted the whole time I knew you were working at Hospice when I used to be able to help you get to where you needed to go never a bad word about anybody only talk very so very good about your son, Evan. I know you will be surely missed. I’m not sure what happened. I didn’t even know you were sick, but you’re with God now and in peace rest in peace now Patty.

Patti was a vibrant person with a huge heart matched by her huge smile and shining eyes. She was kind and funny and engaging and graciously gave  her cheerful vibes to everyone.  I am profoundly sad that she has left us and way too soon. She is a beautiful soul, forever.

Patti was always so kind to me. Especially when I was a child. I remember she lived basically next door to us and we got to spend time together at the pool and doing this fun walk for charity. We lost touch over the years and recently started talking again. I will never forget how she was like a mom to me and her cheek kisses.
