

Peggie Holt Woodruff, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 29 at her home surrounded by family. Peggie was born in Columbus, GA to the late John Graydon Holt and Hazel Irene Gordy. Her mother Hazel died in 1939 and her father married the late Florence Holmes who raised her as a daughter. In 1950 Peggie met Elliott Ray Woodruff the man God had created for her and they were married on December 14, 1952. She stayed home and helped Ray with his lawn service for many years and then returned to the work field around 1976. She worked for Jack Eckerd Corporation for over 20 years in their third-party billing department. She was always involved in church, serving on many committees, teaching Sunday School, and rocked many babies in the nursery. In addition to her love of the Lord and her family, Peggie loved both cooking and traveling. Many Saturday nights would find Ray and Peggie playing dominoes with a group of friends, who had formed a special bond during their time together at Calvary Baptist Church. Along with her husband, Ray, she is survived by her three children, Thomas Woodruff and wife Barbara of Rotunda West, Judith Woodruff of Clearwater, and Betsy McKnight and her husband Thomas of Safety Harbor, also, her four grandchildren, Rob McCall and his wife Tiffany, Virginia McCall, Molly Woodruff, and Kevin McKnight, and two great-grandsons; a sister, Regina Whitcomb; and many more extended family members. The family will receive friends Friday, November 6th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home and the service will be Saturday, November 7th at 11:00 am at Sylvan Abbey. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that you make your donations to Suncoast Hospice, Florida Baptist Children’s Homes, or a charity of your choice.
