Born on August 18, 1933, in Madison, Indiana Phyllis was the daughter of the late Marion C. Hammond and Grace Richmond Hammond. She spent most of her life in Indianapolis, where she worked as a secretary and administrative assistant for various companies. In 2008, she moved to Clearwater to be closer to family and, in 2025, relocated to Venice.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Jeffrey Hammond and his wife, Susan Cole Hammond; her two grandchildren, Kirstie Durham of Phoenix, AZ and Jake and Patricia Connolly Hammond from Essex, VT; and her four great-grandchildren Skyla, Daniel, Paul and Cecelia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bill Hammond; his wife, Betty Hammond; and their children, Sherry and Bob.
Phyllis was a devoted member of The Pointe Church in Clearwater.
A graveside service will be held on June 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
