Raye Chappell Wood

Raye C. Wood (100) died January 14, 2016 at Brookdale Lake Ridge, in Woodbridge, VA where she resided for the last 12 years. Raye was born October 19, 1915 in Lowell, Carroll County, Georgia to the late Mr. Wade Hamp Chappell and Mrs. Carrie Faver Chappell. Mrs. Wood was predeceased by her sisters Mary C. Burns and Martha C. Schulte and brothers: Hoke, William, Clay, Wade, and Hugh Chappell. Mrs. Wood is survived by her twin sister Faye C. Sessions Carroll of Kissimmee, FL and sister Dorothy C. Meyers of Marshallville, GA. She is lovingly remembered by her sons Lt Col(Ret) James L. Moore, Woodbridge, VA (Sylvia), and Dr. Robert E. Dorlon, Fernandina Beach, FL (Mary); grandchildren: Marianne Curren, Reston, VA (James), Maj(Ret) James R. Moore, Huntington, MD (Carolyn), Dr. Marcie Dorlon, Charleston, SC (Dr. Zeke Walton) and Robert Dorlon III, Seoul, South Korea; great grandsons: Thomas, Maximilian, and Michael Moore, and Remington, Montgomery and Armstrong Curren. Raye is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mrs. Wood’s marriage to Lee Moore of Carrollton, GA ended in divorce. She was married for 32 years in Miami, FL to Mr. Robert E. Dorlon, who died in 1980, and for 14 years in Largo, FL to LTC(ret) Joel Wood who died in 2003. Mrs. Wood had an administrative career with the Department of the Interior in Washington during World War II and the Internal Revenue Service in Atlanta and Miami, retiring in 1976. Funeral services and burial will be held at Sylvan Abby Memorial Park in Clearwater, FL on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 11:00 A.M.
