

He was born on April 17, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Helen (née Becker) and Simon Tobias Dickmann. Richard was a proud graduate of De La Salle Collegiate High School in Detroit, Class of 1955, and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting laying the foundation for a long and dedicated professional life.
Richard built a successful career in accounting with R.P. Scherer Pharmaceuticals. In 1980, he relocated with his family to Dunedin, Florida, where he continued his work with the company as it later became Catalent Pharmaceuticals, remaining there until his retirement. His commitment, integrity, and steady presence defined both his professional and personal life.
Outside of work, Richard found joy in life’s quiet pleasures. He loved puzzles and was an avid collector of stamps, coins, and antiques. He also took great pride in maintaining his aquariums, finding peace and fascination in their care.
A man of deep faith, Richard was a founding member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. He was actively involved in the parish community, participating in the men’s group, serving as a sacristan delivering communion and the Knights of Columbus, where he formed lasting friendships and served with devotion.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bernice L. Dickmann; his daughter, Deborah Reed; his sister, Imogene Schottoeffer; and his grandson, Glenn Smithson.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Catherine Ziegler, Jacqueline (Walter) Giddings, and Vickie (Michael) Epperson; his grandchildren, Kyle Reed, Corey Reed, Shawn Dickmann, Garrett (Madeleine Schabes) Giddings, Carrie Jentz, and Michael Epperson; his great-grandchildren, Kayli Smithson, Victoria (Michael) Smithson, Zachary Smithson, and Carlie Jentz, Sophia Epperson and Isabella Epperson. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory.
A visitation will be held from 9-10am on Thursday, April 30, 20226 at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida 33759. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11am, St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 2281 FL-580, Clearwater, Florida 33763.
Richard’s life was one of quiet strength, enduring love, and unwavering faith. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
