Richard T. Mulcahy

Richard T. Mulcahy, 85, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014, in Wimauma, Florida where he was in the loving care of his family during a protracted illness.

Dick was born January 26, 1929, in Glens Falls, New York. He was the third eldest of seven children born to Anna Curtin and John J. Mulcahy. His siblings included John, Mary, Robert, David, Patricia and Judy. He was a 1946 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy, Glens Falls, NY.

He married Lois A. Durkee on August 6, 1950. They lived in Glens Falls most of their married life and moved to the Imperial Cove in Clearwater FL in 1989. After serving in the Air Force Dick started his 41 year career with the Glens Falls Post Star working in the classified advertising division and serving as Classified Advertising Manager for 20 years before his retirement in 1991. Dick was active in parish ministry, first at St. Mary’s and then at St. Catherine of Siena parish in Clearwater FL. While at St. Catherine’s he was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Assembly of Saint Catherine of Siena Parish. He worked bingo at St. Catherine’s for many years and was active in service functions with the Knights of Columbus. He served as President of his condo building association for 13 years and completed a three-year term as President of the Imperial Cove Association.

Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was generous, kind and compassionate. He touched many lives and people. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by Lois (2012), his wife of nearly 62 years; his brothers, John and David; and his sisters Mary and Judy.

He is survived by his five children, R. Timothy (Patricia) Mulcahy of Middleton, WI; Chris (Bonnie Kudrick) Mulcahy of Arlington, VA; Mark (Christine) Mulcahy of Westerville, OH; Eva Marie (Scott) Ramsey of Spencer, MA and James (Peggy) Mulcahy of Queensbury, NY. He has 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Kathleen (Christopher) Younker and their children, Breckin, Aubrianna and Ellyse; Kristin (Matthew) Freeman and their children, Tyler and Katelyn; Daniel Mulcahy; Michael (Diedre) Mulcahy and their daughter, Bellamy; Jake (Trixie) Prudhomme and their children Benjamin and Pilar; Lindsay Mulcahy; Catherine Mulcahy; Sara Ramsey; Ian Ramsey; Samantha Wood and her son Carter; and Megan Mulcahy. He is also survived by his brother Robert of Glens Falls, Patricia McAndrews of Amherst, MA and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 693 South Belcher Road, Clearwater.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1955 Belcher Road, Clearwater, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Dick may be made to LifePath Hospice. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the loving care and support provided by the nurses and staff of LifePath Hospice during the last days of Dick’s illness. They are grateful, too, to the Knights of Columbus, his family in Christ at Saint Catherine’s and his many wonderful friends at the Imperial Cove for their wonderful friendship and support.
