Robert Laurel Ely

Born on February 27, 1956, in Middletown, Ohio, Robert was the beloved son of the late Ethel and Marnell Ely. He graduated from Vandalia-Butler High School in Vandalia, Ohio, and went on to build a rewarding career as a Meat Manager with Publix Super Markets, where he took great pride in his work and the relationships he formed throughout the years.

Robert was a man of simple pleasures and genuine kindness. In his free time, he found joy in fishing and playing video games, hobbies that brought him relaxation, laughter, and many cherished memories. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and the warmth he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.

He is lovingly survived by his children, Tonya Ely, Tanya Ely, and Tony (Hara) Ely; his siblings, Tim Ely, Laurel Ely, and Diane (Dennis) Fahl; nineteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cherry Ely; his son, Robert Ely Jr.; and his brothers, Ron, James, and Larry Ely.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Robert's life on Friday, July 10, 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m., at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida 33759.

A Committal Service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida 33759.

Though his presence will be greatly missed, Robert's memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
