Robert "Bob" Louis Fontana went home to our Lord on Friday, January 11, 2019, at the age of 49. Bob was born July 11, 1969 in Huntington, New York. He and his wife Colleen were married on April 11, 1997 at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor. He graduated from Florida Southern College with a Bachelor of Finance in 1991, and was a Sigma Chi alumnus, Epsilon Sigma Chapter.
Bob was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. His contagious smile and bright personality lit up any room he walked into. No one could turn down one of Bob’s bear hugs. He genuinely cared about anyone he met, and he showed it by celebrating their wins and sympathizing their losses with them. Bob was always the first to crack a joke, make a silly face, or offer help for anyone in need. He had a gigantic heart, which he wore on his sleeve. Bob’s girls meant the world to him, and his love for family was immense. He loved spending time with them, at home or while traveling. His favorite place was anywhere with his family.
Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7109. He and his family have been active members and volunteers at Espiritu Santo at the Sunday 8:30 Mass. He was a key member of the choir, played guitar and was known as the character; he was a cut-up that got everybody going during practice and at Mass. Everyone who knew Bob loved him. He will truly be missed.
Bob will forever be remembered by his wife and best friend, Colleen (McNulty) Fontana, daughters, Morgan, Lindsay, and Sadie, parents, Anthony and Rosemarie (Busterna) Fontana, sisters, Susanne Fontana and Stacey (Fontana) Rowe, and many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
Bob will be honored by family and friends on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 beginning 7:30 pm at Nolan’s Pub, 230 Main Street, Safety Harbor, FL 34695.
A Funeral Mass for Bob will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 beginning 10:00 am with reception to follow at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, 2405 Philippe Parkway, Safety Harbor, FL 34695. Reception is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 7109.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Bob's memory to the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation (https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/WebLink.aspx?name=E163958&id=9)
