A man of great integrity died on June 4, 2018. Bob was born on September 24, 1941 in Westville, New Jersey. He served honorably from 1960-1965 in the United States Navy. Bob had a wonderful 38 years’ career in law enforcement; 16 years with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office where he served at the rank of Captain and 22 years with the State Attorney’s Office in which he retired in 2003 as the Chief Investigator for the Sixth Judicial Circuit. Bob and his family had a successful business, Somers Shrimp Company, based out of Tarpon Springs, for over thirty years.
However, more wonderful than all his great achievements, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in 2011. He is survived by his wife Bernice of 53 years, three wonderful sons, Robert (Meagan), Dwayne (Staci), and Keith (Sarah) whom followed in their father’s path. He was blessed with eight grandchildren, Taylor, Robert, Haven, Katarina, Madelynne, Payton, Ava, and Hayley, and three great-grandchildren Skye, Austen and Marlow. Bob is predeceased by his Father, Frederick, Mother Delia, Sister Georgine, and great grandson Hudson William Hughes.
We all loved him and will miss him, but know one day we will be with him again in Heaven.
A private service was held by the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Bob’s name to the First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks’ Children’s Center at 12685 Ulmerton Road, Largo, Fl. 33784.
