Ruth S. Van Kersen

Ruth Susanne Hall Grossman Van Kersen (Sue) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 26, 2022 at the age of 89 in Palm Harbor, FL. Sue was an energetic mother and grandmother who loved walking and synchronized swimming. She took various art classes and was fond of pen and ink drawing techniques. Sue was born in Walden, NY on December 8, 1932. She attended Keuka College and graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Home Economics.

Sue is survived by her husband Phillip L. Van Kersen; daughters Linda Huotilainen, Julie McElfresh and son Todd Grossman; grandchildren Kelleyanne McElfresh, Erin McElfresh, Sarah Grossman (deceased), Jessa Grossman, Ryan McElfresh; step children Philip W. Van Kersen, Chris Van Kersen, Eric Van Kersen, Matthew Van Kersen, Melissa Bradley; step grandchildren Laura Balsmeyer (deceased), Elizabeth Franzini, Philip A. Van Kersen, Ellis Bradley, Vaughn Bradley; step great grandchildren Hannah, Riley and Brett Balsmeyer, and William, Nicholas, Andrew and Benjamin Franzini. Also survived by her sister Ellie Freese and predeceased by her sisters Martha Packer, Bobbi Bowne and Aurelia Hall.
