Sharon Margaret Bartkus, born May 8, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio, to Dr. Fred O. Hartman and Margaret Hartman, passed away surrounded by loved ones on February 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion.

A proud graduate of The Ohio State University, Sharon began her career working for the State of Ohio before later dedicating herself to nurturing young children as a preschool teacher at Light of Christ Catholic Church. She found great joy in guiding young minds and touching the lives of countless families.

Sharon was especially known for her deep love of animals and her tireless efforts in rescuing and caring for them. She also enjoyed golfing and traveling, embracing life with curiosity, warmth, and gratitude.

She is survived by her loving husband, Chris Bartkus; her son, Christopher; her daughter, Chelsea, and her husband, Ryan Chaney; and her cherished grandchildren, Hayden (9) and Brody (7). She will be remembered always for her generous spirit and the many lives—both human and animal—she touched.
