Shirley was a woman whose love knew no limits and whose kindness touched everyone she met. She was the heart of our family — an amazing, beautiful person who devoted her life to caring for others. Whether as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, or neighbor, she was everyone’s caregiver. Her arms were always open, her home was always welcoming, and her advice was always steady and wise. She had a remarkable way of making each person feel seen, heard, and deeply loved.
Her strength was quiet but unwavering. Through life’s challenges, she remained compassionate and selfless, always placing the needs of others before her own. She found joy in simple moments — family gatherings, shared meals, warm conversations, and the laughter of those she cherished most. Her legacy lives on in the kindness she showed, the lessons she shared, and the family she nurtured with endless devotion. We will carry her spirit forward in how we care for one another, just as she cared for all of us. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Hilburn Ellis Berry, her mother, Claudine Griggs, her father, Edgar Wise, and her stepsister LeeAnn Wimberly.
