Born on September 2, 1943, in Washington, D.C., Shirley built a life full of family, work and building a welcoming home for all family and friends.
She gave of herself through her guidance, caring and frequently sought-out advice. Her family will remember her thoughtfulness, kind ways, and being a mentor to so many. She was happiest when able to help others with their issues, no matter big or small.
She is survived by her son, Aaron Ward, daughter Audra Dishman, and son-in-law Jeff, and grandsons Tanner and Colton; sister and brother-in-law Donna and Frank Catanzaro; and many, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 25 years, Carroll Ellis Ward.
Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 14, 2026 at 3:00PM at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida 33759.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
