Steven Paul Prouty, 73, was born August 16, 1948 in Syracuse, New York, to parents Paul and Dorothy Prouty. He grew up in and called Phoenix his home his entire life. He honorably served as a firefighter in the United States Air Force, and proudly served the Phoenix Fire Department for many years.
Steve’s family was his ultimate priority, always living to provide and care for them. He also served his community over the years. He worked for many years at Wickes Lumber Company, taking pride in what he did, remembered as the man who always smiled. He then became known as the go-to person come tax time at Family Tax Service. His kindness, generosity, loyalty, sincerity and friendship to everyone who knew him will be missed.
Steve is survived by his wife, Vicki Prouty; his sons, Steven Prouty Jr, Christopher Prouty, and Joseph Prouty; his grandchildren, Ian, Michael, Kaitlyn, and Brendon; and his siblings, Thomas Prouty and Marcia Prouty Baldwin.
So Steve may be honored for who he was to so many, a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11am at the Phoenix Fire Department, located at 457 Main Street in Phoenix, New York. A gathering and reception will follow, from 12pm until 3pm.
