Teresa M. Kiekens, age 62, of Palm Harbor, Florida, passed away on Wednesday (August 6, 2014) at Suncoast Hospice Brookside Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Edward L. Kiekens. Besides her husband, Ed, Teresa leaves her son, Edward (Eddie) V. Kiekens of Palm Harbor, and daughter Emilee Kiekens of Port Richey.
Teresa was born in Anniston, Alabama on January 10, 1952 and grew up in Farmington Hills, Michigan. She was the daughter of Vernon and Bernice Malone. Teresa worked for many years at Paradyne and then Avaya, where she had countless friends.
Beloved wife, mother, and friend, Teresa, was an incredible person that took great pleasure in helping others, which is evidenced by the many young people who called her Mom. She also took great pride in building her business; Peggy O’Neill’s Irish Pub & Eatery. Teresa loved traveling to visit friends that had moved to other states. She also enjoyed gambling and simply spending time with her family and friends.
At Teresa’s request, there is a visitation scheduled at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home (www.sylvanabbey.com) located at 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Fl 33759 from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday, August 9. We will also be having a “Celebration of Life” for Teresa at Peggy O’Neill’s in Oldsmar (13910 W. Hillsborough Ave) immediately following the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice at www.suncoasthospice.org. Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
