Vickie was born in New York City on April 19, 1925 to Jennie and Dominick LaPlaca who emigrated from Sicily. She had an older brother, Joseph and younger sister, Helen. The family pulled up stakes and moved to Brooklyn when Vickie was a young girl. She met Ted while employed at Emerson Television and Radio in the 1940’s. They married on her birthday in 1947 and raised three daughters, Linda, Janet and Eileen.
Vickie and Ted relocated to New Port Richey after she retired from her 30-year employment as an administrative assistant for Chevrolet dealerships in Brooklyn and the Four Star Chevrolet Dealers Association. They enjoyed an active social life, playing games and attending parties and shows with friends and family. Ted entered eternal life just months after their 50th wedding anniversary.
Vickie volunteered her time to senior organizations and was honored with the CARES Outstanding Volunteer award in 2000.
Throughout her life, she always maintained her sense of humor and was instantly liked by the people she met. She will be remembered as a loving, caring, kind and generous woman, who never stopped worrying about her kids, no matter how old they were.
