Virginia A. (Ginnie) Gibson, 87, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011 in Clearwater Florida. Per her wishes, the body will be cremated and the ashes scattered in the Gulf of Mexico to be with those of her first husband. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 7, 2012 in the chapel of Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 693 S. Belcher Road, Clearwater, FL. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM (one hour prior to the service).
Virginia Washburn was born January 20, 1924 in Henry County Illinois, a daughter of Arthur and Mary (Durham) Washburn. She graduated from Orion High School in 1941. She served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.
Ginnie married Lawrence Belden in 1948, he died in 1981. She married Homer (Hoot) Gibson in 1984, he died in 1999.
Ginnie worked at International Harvester East Moline Works, retiring in 1976 as Payroll and Timekeeping Supervisor. In Florida she worked at Pioneer Bank, Nielsen Media Research and volunteered at SuncoastHospice,Clearwater.
Ginnie’s memberships included Women of the Moose, Dunedin/Clearwater Elks, Lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary of Clearwater.
Survivors include a stepson, Michael Gibson, Moline IL, two stepdaughters, Pam (Ron) Ehrecke, Moline and Emilie (George) Rankin of Washington State.Nieces and nephews: Mary Allen, Shirley Kinnear, Janice Campbell, Jim Washburn, Judy Emmert and David Bainter.
Ginnie was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and four sisters.
