

Walter Harry Gustafson, age 92, of Dunedin, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and dedicated servant of his country and community, Walter will be deeply missed by all who knew him and shared in his life.
Born on March 26, 1933, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Walter was the son of the late Nellie and Harry Gustafson. He served honorably in the United States Air Force, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of patriotism and duty. After his military service, he pursued his education at the University of Minnesota and enjoyed a successful 43-year career as an engineering manager at Lockheed Martin.
Walter was a man of integrity, warmth, and quiet strength. He had a love for all sports, with a special passion for golf. He never missed his children’s or grandchild’s games/activities and was an avid supporter of Tampa Bay’s sports teams—including the Buccaneers, Rays, and Lightning—as well as Minnesota’s Vikings, Twins, North Stars, and the University of Minnesota.
He was a faithful member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Clearwater, Florida, where his faith served as a guiding light throughout his life.
Walter's greatest legacy was the deep love he had for his family. He was the devoted husband of 68 years to Gloria Gustafson, whom he cherished dearly. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. He was a proud father to his son, Steve (Hien) Gustafson, and daughter Lori Quintana and a loving grandfather to Kailey Quintana. Walter also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will remember his kind heart and gentle spirit.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Marion.
A funeral service to celebrate Walter’s life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida. A committal service will follow from 12:00 PM at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that contributions be made in Walter’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
Walter’s legacy of love, honor, and faith will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
