Walter proudly served in the military after high school, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. After marrying his beloved wife, Marguerite, he attended night school to earn his college degree in information technology. He went on to work as a senior systems analyst for Deloitte Haskin & Sells, including time at the World Trade Center in New York.
Walter found his greatest joy in his family, sharing 56 wonderful years of marriage with Marguerite. He loved watching sports, especially his beloved New York Yankees, and was a devoted animal lover who shared his home with three dogs and a cat over the years. He also enjoyed collecting Lionel trains and setting them up around the Christmas tree each year. A talented and resourceful man, Walter once renovated his family home himself, transforming the basement into a complete living space. Whether enjoying a movie, cheering on his favorite team, or spending time with loved ones, Walter treasured the simple moments that made life special.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marguerite Wurr; his children, Anton Wurr and Colette Alex; and his grandchildren, Julianna Wurr, Steven Alex, and Nicholas Alex. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Margaret Wurr, and his brother, Richard Wurr.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church.
Walter will be remembered for his dedication, resourcefulness, and deep love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
