Major Wright is survived by his children, Salvation Army Lt. Col. Sharon Raymer of Dallas, TX, James Wright of Los Angeles, CA, and Lisa Talarico of Tampa, FL.
He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Salvation Army Capt. Jonathan Raymer, David Raymer, USAF Staff Sgt. Jesse Wright, Josie Bready, Katarina Wright, and Marisa Talarico. Along with four great grandchildren, Calista Gamez, Maddix, Myles, and Amelia Raymer.
Also siblings Charles Wright and Betty Jean Ritenour.
He was preceded in death by his son Warren Wright Jr., wife Ruth Ann Wright, and great granddaughter Laylah Gamez. Along with siblings Leona Mae Weeks, Alice Brown, Leonard Wright, Harold Wright, and parents Wilbur and Rena Wright.
He was born February 17, 1930 and raised on a farm in Nokesville, Virginia where he was the the oldest son of seven siblings. He attended Bridgewater College in Virginia and after graduating, joined the United States Air Force as a pilot in 1953.
He met and married Ruth Ann Watson in 1957 and together they raised four children.
Warren was a veteran of the USAF where he flew 275 combat missions in Vietnam. Earning numerous awards and medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross and seven Air Medals while flying 211 combat sorties in the F-4 Phantom and later, 64 missions in the B-52 bomber.
After 20 years he was honorably discharged as a Major from the Air Force in 1973 and found work as a pilot for a Florida based home builder. Later he was the Chief Executive Pilot for the Home Shopping Network before his full retirement in 1995.
Services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Sylvan Abbey, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, FL. 33759.
