

Waynette was born on February 3, 1926. The third of Wallace and Vestelle’s five children, she loved to ride her bike from the family home on Eldridge Street across the causeway to the beach.
She was married for 60 years to John Glenn, who passed away in 2010. Their five children included Michael Newton-Brown, Susie Sullivan, John Glenn, Jr. and is survived by her youngest sons Wayne Glenn and Lawson Glenn. She is succeeded by six grandchildren Andrew, Anna and Louisa Glenn; Jack and Frank Sullivan and Campbell Glenn Garonzik and seven great grandchildren. Many of Waynette’s 16 nieces and nephews live in The Clearwater area.
Her father, Wallace Blackburn, founded The World Champion Clearwater Bombers and brothers Wally and Bill developed Clearwater Mall and many other properties.
After graduating from Clearwater High School, Waynette attended Stetson University and graduated from William and Mary’s Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
Waynette was known for her gentle soul and wit. She liked to draw and paint and was active in Memphis’ Brooks Art Museum, She was a warden in St. George’s Episcopal Church and officer of Alpha Xi Delta Panhellenic. Her households and family life included whatever her children were involved in, and the whole family enjoyed golf together.

A graveside service for Waynette will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM, Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, FLorida 33579.
