

William (Bill) went to be with the Lord on December 16, 2021. He was born in Pensacola, Florida on March 23, 1932. At the age of 8 his family moved to Mobile, Alabama where he lived until the Korean war serving four years in the United States Air Force. He later attended the University of Alabama where he received his electrical engineering degree and then worked for Bell Telephone Laboratories. Moving to Clearwater Florida in 1963 he worked with Honeywell Aerospace where he achieved the level of Technical Director. Bill retired from Honeywell in 1992 at the age of 60.
Bill married Mary Austine Pope in 1951 and remained by her side for 67 years until her death. Bill and Austine had three boys, Michael, Paul, and Matthew. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He and Austine were faithful members of North Dunedin Baptist Church.
Motorcycling and golf were some of his favorite pastimes. He was a past member of both the Harley Owners Group and the Goldwing Roadriders Association. He and Austine were named the Goldwing Florida District Couple of the year in 2003. He and Austine were owners at Innisbrook Golf Resort for many years where they enjoyed golfing together and was an active scout leader while his three sons were in the Scouting program. Bill enjoyed the outdoors often taking the family on outdoor adventures.
He is survived by his sons Michael and Paul, daughter in law Rosemary, grandchildren Ben and Brian and wife Audrey, and great grandchildren Emily, Hailey, and Gavin.
A Visitation will be held at Sylvan Abbey on Wednesday, December 29th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am; Funeral Service begins at 11:00 am followed by a Graveside Service.
