William Gand

William "Bill" Gand, 93, passed away on May 26, 2026, in Clearwater.

Bill was born in Peoria and spent his early years there. He attended Bradley University, where he studied accounting and graduated in 1955.

One of the greatest blessings of Bill's life began when he met his future wife, Marilyn. They were high school sweethearts who found love on their first date on October 15, 1949, and were married on September 4, 1955. Together they built a remarkable life and shared 70 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, friendship, and devotion.

Bill and Marilyn were passionate world travelers who embraced every opportunity to explore new places and cultures. Throughout their lives, they lived in several communities, including Indianapolis and Lafayette, Indiana and Dunedin here in Florida, before putting down roots in the Innisbrook Resort community in 1972. They were proud members of the golf and tennis club there for more than 50 years.

Bill proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army.

Professionally, Bill worked for National Homes before embarking on an entrepreneurial journey with Marilyn. Together they founded Sunshine Foundation Coffee, a business they successfully owned and operated for 20 years.

Bill was also deeply committed to his community. As President of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, he played an instrumental role in helping bring the Toronto Blue Jays spring training program to Dunedin, leaving a lasting impact on the city he loved.

Above all, Bill will be remembered for his dedication to family, his entrepreneurial spirit, his service to his country and community, and his enduring love for Marilyn.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn, with whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories.

A memorial may be held later this year.
