Bill was born in Evanston Illinois and moved with his family to Pinellas County in 1950. Bill attended St Petersburg Junior College before enlisting in the US Army where he served in Korea until 1954.
Bill worked for years in the sales and service of mobile homes and RV’s in Dunedin. Bill spent many hours volunteering at All Children’s Hospital and the St Petersburg YMCA. He and his wife, Elizabeth, loved to travel, and had many wonderful journeys to visit friends and relatives in their RV. Wherever they went, they made many life-long friends. In later years he faithfully cared for his wife as her health declined. Meeting and spending time with people was one of his great passions.
Bill is now with his wife Elizabeth Stephens Hawkes, who passed in 2011. He is survived by his sister Barbara Buck of Crystal Lake, IL, his sisters-in law Cay Meadows of Fredericksburg TX, June Bond and Louise Stephens of Chattanooga, TN, and many nieces, nephews and countless friends. He will be missed by so many.
Service will be held November 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home 2853 Sunset Point Road Clearwater, FL.
