Born in Marion County, Indiana, on August 6, 1931, Bill lived a life defined by service, dedication, and quiet strength. Though he spent his final years in Florida to be closer to family, Kentucky always remained his true home at heart.
Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War. Following his service, he worked for General Electric for 35 years, retiring at the age of 59. He was known for his strong work ethic, practical skills, and willingness to help others.
His life was surrounded by acts of service. Bill volunteered as a firefighter, delivered for Meals on Wheels, served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, participated in neighborhood watch, and offered rides to those in need. He never hesitated to step up for his community.
He was married to the love of his life, Marguerite "Madge" Scarbrough, for 50 years until her passing. Together they raised three children: Dennis (LaDonna), Connie (Rick), and Sharon (Chet). He was a cherished grandfather to Denny, Audrey, and Andy, and a proud great-grandfather to Charles, Matthew, Desmond, Dylan, Clyde, and Roy.
Bill found joy in the outdoors and loved fishing and camping. He was also an expert tinkerer, always fixing, building, or figuring something out -usually with a calm demeanor and a pocketful of tools.
He will be remembered for his generosity, his humor, and his unwavering dedication to the people and places he loved. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he raised, and the countless small acts of kindness he gave so freely.
