Bill was born in Albany, NY and grew up in Loudonville, NY. The late 60's took him to Florida where he earned his pilot's license. Bill worked for several years as a flight comptroller at Quonset Point, RI., and many more traveling the Northeastern states for BMW Automotive. Bill was finally able to return to his beloved Florida where he married his life-long soulmate, Kathleen Scher. Kathleen was also originally from upstate NY. Bill was a huge fan of auto racing, from having his own race car, to working at race tracks, traveling with different clubs he belonged to and even did some online racing during the pandemic. While he spent hours in the stands watching races, his favorite race was at Brands Hatch during a trip to England. Later in life, Bill enjoyed traveling nationwide by RV, with his wife and frequently, his cherished granddaughter, Heather. For many years, he also loved playing "Grumpy Grandpa" to Cooper, Madeline and Gabriel. Bill is survived by four children.
In addition to racing, Bill loved to golf. So much so, that both his Florida and Ohio homes were on golf courses. When he wasn't playing he could always watch! He also enjoyed marksmanship and riding his Harley-Davidson, especially at Americade in Lake George, NY.
While a quiet and private man, Bill had many friends, both nationwide and around the world. A celebration of life will be held later this year.
