Andrew Franklin Dinkins was a simple man who lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, and service to others. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and friend whose life was marked by quiet strength and a willingness to work hard and help those around him.
Andrew dedicated his career to education, serving as a teacher for many years. He was especially proud of his work as a homebound teacher, helping students continue their education when they were unable to attend school. In the early 1970s, he helped establish the homebound teaching program, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of students and families who benefited from this important service. Teaching was more than a profession to Andrew; it was a commitment he took seriously and carried with pride. His dedication to his work remained strong throughout his life, as he continued working until just a couple of months before his passing.
In his younger years, Andrew enjoyed woodworking, a hobby that reflected his patience, skill, and appreciation for working with his hands. He was a hardworking man who believed in doing a job well and taking pride in what he accomplished. He found purpose in his work, satisfaction in his accomplishments, and meaning in the life he built with his family.
Andrew was also a proud 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Master Mason and a Shriner. Through his Masonic involvement, he was part of traditions centered on fellowship, brotherhood, charity, and service to others.
Above all, Andrew cherished his family. Andrew married his beloved wife, Gail Dinkins, in 1964, and together they shared more than 60 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories. He was a proud father to his only son, Mark Dinkins, and was a loving grandfather to Kimberly, Kolton, and Clay, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Though he will be deeply missed, Andrew's legacy will live on through his family, the students he taught, the program he helped build, and the many lives touched by his years of service and dedication. May he rest in peace, knowing that a life of honest work, devotion to family, and faithful service is a life well lived.
