She was born April 5, 1934 in Yadkin County, NC. She met the love of her life on a ‘girls trip’ to Camp Lejeune; and soon thereafter took on the role of a Marine Corps wife, raising her own children while babysitting for other military wives on base. During her husband’s 20+ year active duty service, she learned independence, resilience, and great strength which she demonstrated throughout her entire life. She loved all of her family in such a way that could not be fully explained in even a thousand words. She became a faithful member of Freeman Street Baptist Church in the late 1990’s. She strongly believed in her Lord and her faith grew continuously throughout the remainder of her days.
She was proceeded in death by her loving husband, John A. Prush, Sr.; son, Daniel Edward Prush; great-grandson, Brandon Daniel Prush; one brother, Richard ’Buddy’, Williams and four sisters, Francis Fine, Rachel ‘Toby’ Carter, Eva ‘Noodi’ Vawter, and Thelma Williams.
She is survived by her four sons, Allen Wooten (Jean) of Farmington, Tommy Wooten (Vivian) of Walkertown, John A. Prush, Jr. of the home and Steven Charles Prush; as well as her four daughters, Mary A. Bowman (Tracy) of W-S, Joanne P. McNeal (John) of King, Susan Hale (Darren) of Lexington and Hope P. Girard (Larry) of Pfafftown. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and talked about at every opportunity, as well as her very special friend, Gayle Mock. The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to Senior Services of W-S and Trellis Supportive Care (W-S) for the great care and compassion they so kindly provided.
Services will be held at 11 AM , Thursday July 9th, at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home in Clemmons. Interment to follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston Salem.
