

Pfafftown-Mrs. Annie Tuttle Maxey, 80, died at Village Care of King, May 12, 2013. A celebration of Annie’s life will be 11 AM, Thursday, May 16 at Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel with Reverends Gene Lawson and Danny Hall officiating. Interment will be at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
Annie was born in Stokes County to the late Mr. & Mrs. Jimmy and Susie Tatum Tuttle. She was a member of Middle Cross (where she was a member of the Ladies’ Club) and New Hope Baptist Churches. On May 13, 1949 she married Reverend Irvin Thomas Maxey and spent fifty eight wonderful years together before his death in 2007. Annie will be remembered as a woman of great faith who loved her family deeply and supported her husband in his ministry. She had an outgoing personality, a kind heart and was a selfless servant to others. She often took food to the sick or homebound and will be remembered for her love and generosity to others. She enjoyed singing and loved to spend time with her family, daughter and son-in-law, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Maxey (James) Rutledge of Pffafftown; grandchildren, Angela Stokes of Germanton and Joseph (Wendy) Mickle of King; great grandchildren, Jeffery Allen Tuttle, Dominic Mickle, and Brandon Stokes; and great-great grandson, Levi James Tuttle. Three sisters also survive Annie, Mary Martin of King, Ersie Hoots of Walkertown, and Carrie Mae Bowden of Germanton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Rameal Holder and Roberta Hutchins; and her husband’s parents, Mr. & Mrs. Wesley Earl and Bessie Kiger Maxey.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Village Care of King or Hospice and Palliative Care of Winston-Salem.
