Barbara Ann Hoffman Brewer, of Mocksville, passed away peacefully at her home on December 29th with her husband of 48 years, Dan, by her side. Barbara was born August 29, 1941 in Gaston County, North Carolina. She later moved to North Carolina where, after the untimely death of her father, she was raised in the Baptist Children’s Home until she graduated high school. Barbara graduated from Gardner–Webb University and worked in the fundraising department at Bowman Grey School of Medicine before leaving the corporate world to raise her sons. In years past she enjoyed antiquing, was a regular patron of the library who was always reading, and was an avid flower gardener who loved spending time in her yard. More recently she looked forward to every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Bobby Hoffman. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dan; sons Patrick W. Brewer of Apex and J. Michael Brewer of Huntersville; daughter-in-law Ge Yang Brewer of Huntersville; grandchildren, Carolyn, June, Elise, and Zack; sister, Dorothy Vernon of Winston-Salem; brother, Russell Hoffman of Durham; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the chapel of Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home in Clemmons with visitation and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Baptist Children’s Home at 204 Idol Street, Thomasville, NC 27360. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.frankvoglerandsonsclemmons.com for the Brewer family.

Simply wishing for one more day with you. When we became friends in the 80s, It was a blessing .Sometimes friendships have ups and downs. That bond was never broken .As"THE APOSTLE Paul said," I thank God upon every remeberance of you."To be absent in the flesh, is to be present with the Lord." Dan, and family may peace come .

Dan, Patrick, Michael, Dorothy and family,

Our sincere condolences on the loss of Barbara. We were shocked to hear the news. I have great memories of going to your house when I was younger and always playing with Patrick and Michael up until late at night it seemed while you and my mom and dad "entertained" Barbara was a feisty lady but nice and fun to be around. I sure do miss some of those days and sometimes it seems like it was yesterday. Our heartfelt prayers are with all of you during this time. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you need anything at all.

Love
Caroline, Mark and Leland Anderson (Wayne and Dolly's family)

Dan, Patrick, Michael, Dorothy and family,
I was so sad to hear of Barbara’s passing. I have such good memories of our times together when I was little and of you all being present with our family during the celebrations as well as the hard times. I remember her laugh and her wit and her problem solving abilities and her awesome spaghetti sauce. Thinking of you -Gina

Dan, Patrick and Michael, I am so sorry to be reading this today. When I went to work at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in September of 1969 Barbara was my very first co-worker in the fundraising department. Howard Hall was head of the department. Over the years of knowing Barbara we also became friends. I would babysit for her and Dan when the boys came along. They lived in Pfafftown at that time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I have known Barbara for as long as I can remember. She was always a great friend to my mother, Libby. I always looked forward to her visits with us throughout the years. I loved her witty sense of humor and even as a child loved to sit with her for hours of great conversation. My condolences go out to her family as I know she will be missed.
