Barbara Whitener Denny

She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

Mrs. Denny was a member and attended Calvary Baptist Church until a period of declining health.

She was retired from AT&T after 35 years of service and continued to work 8 more years for Sam’s Club.

Mrs. Denny had a fond love for her family; enjoyed cooking for family and friends; and enjoyed spending time with her sister and daughters in Las Vegas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Barbara (Puggie) Sutton; and sisters, Fannie Lou Staten and Mildred Boyd.

She is survived by daughters, Lynda Reaves and Teresa Atwood (Greg); grandchildren, Rick Rood, Mike Rood (Dee), Bryan Watson (Phyllis), Dee-Dee Bodenheimer (Scott), Tanya Livengood (Tim), and Hutch Hutchens (Sarah); great grandchildren, Austin Bodenheimer and Jamie Livengood; siblings, Bernice Abee and M.C. (Sonny) Whitener Jr. (Nellie); special family member, Nina Livengood; and extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to neighbor and friend, Robert Oakes and family, for the love you’ve shown over the years.

A funeral service will be February 28, 2013, 12:30 pm, at Vogler and Sons Reynolda Chapel and officiated by Pastor Ellwood Rakes. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
