Barbara Martin Jarvis, 85, of Clemmons went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born January 16, 1933 in Union County to James Hoyt and Dora Alice Martin. She was a member of Harmony Grove United Methodist Church. She began her nursing career working for Baptist Hospital from 1955-1968. She later was an Administrator with the MediCenter from 1968-1971. Barbara went to work at Medical Park Hospital from 1971-1974 and then became the Director of Nursing at the North Carolina Baptist Home from 1974 - 1985. She was awarded her American Red Cross Pin where she served for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John Raymond Jarvis, Sr. and by five brothers and three sisters. Surviving are her son, John R. Jarvis, Jr. (Vickie); four grandchildren, John Daniel (Danny) Jarvis, Catherine (Catie) Elizabeth Jarvis, Laura Grannaman Lamb (Aaron), Katie Grannaman Ross (Daniel); and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, The family will receive friends from 6:00 -8:00 pm Friday at Frank Vogler and Sons Clemmons Chapel.
