

ADVANCE- Betty Ann Spaugh Watson, age 86, died peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2012. She was born on November 20, 1925. She and her sister, Helen moved to Forsyth County from Tupelo, Mississippi upon the death of their parents, William Lee Spaugh and Estelle Margaret Binkley Spaugh.
Betty Ann graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School and attended Queens College in Charlotte, N.C. In September, 1946, she married her high school sweetheart, Haywood P. Watson. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Winston-Salem for many years. She understood the Lord’s love for her and demonstrated that love to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Helen S. Plaster of Shelby, N.C.
Surviving are her children Ellen Watson Lane and her husband Steve of Bethania, N.C. and H. Parker Watson and his wife, Anne of Mocksville, N.C. Her dearly loved grandchildren are one grandson, Jesse Watson and his wife, Elizabeth, of Clemmons, N.C., and one granddaughter, Jenna Watson of Mocksville, N.C. Emma Kate Watson is her great granddaughter. She is also survived by her nephew, Dr. Harold E. Plaster Jr. and wife Brownie of Shelby, N.C. and her niece Meg Stovall and husband Chuck of Greenville, S.C.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers that have loved and tenderly cared for Betty Ann over the years.
A graveside service will be held at 2 o’clock on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Lewisville Baptist Church Cemetery 125 Lewisville-Clemmons Rd. Lewisville, N.C. 27023. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. An additional celebration of Betty Ann’s life with her favorite hymns and spiritual songs will take place in December.
