Carl Douglas Fulp, Sr. – February 21, 1942 to December 2, 2017

Carl, (better known as Doug to family and close friends), was born in Forsyth County to Helen Collins Fulp and Carl Avery Fulp. He grew up farming along side his dad and graduated from Walkertown High School, Class of 1960. He then attended and graduated from NC State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. His main employment was as an engineer with NC State University where he developed and implemented several notable projects, his last being the infrastructure for Centennial Campus. He retired from the university after 30 years of faithful service. After a brief retirement, he worked for another 10 years at Raleigh Durham Airport until Parkinson’s disease unfortunately forced his retirement. He loved and truly enjoyed planning, designing, and maintaining system infrastructures and was always a loyal Wolfpack fan.

He married his high school sweetheart Judy Keicher Fulp and they enjoyed 56 years of a wonderful life. The marriage brought two sons into their life. Carl Douglas Fulp, Jr. was born in 1963 and Dr Errin Wesley Fulp was born in 1968. Surviving family members include his wife, both sons, his wonderfully devoted daughter in-law Soni Fulp, grandchildren Melissa Whiteheart, Jacob Avery Fulp, Martin Douglas Fulp, and Ehren Elias Fulp; two great grandchildren, Noah Stutts and Finley Whiteheart , his sister, Glenda and brother In law, Dr. Bill Folds, many nieces and nephews, one remaining aunt, Bettie Adams, and many wonderful cousins. All of whom he loved dearly.

He will remain in the hearts of so many because of his kindness, wonderful morals and strong character. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (http://parkinson.org).

I had the great privilege of working with Carl at NCSU during the 1980's. He was unfailingly kind and helpful to me, as a new employee, learning the ropes. My sympathies go out to his family and friends.

Really enjoyed working with Carl at NCSU! Me and my family were so appreciative of him and David Lombardi helping this country girl secretary who was working in the engineering deparment move back home to Martin County when my mom was disgonsed with a brain tumor.

It was great to work with such smart engineers who also believed in helping others on and off the job. Carl's hard work, knowledge and expertise made the energy conservation program at NCSU an award winning program.

I will always remember the projects I had while working with Carl. The lunches we had , especially at Sam's Club, Holland Church Barbeques(twice a year), Ballentines. I really appreciate the opportunity of knowing and working for and with him.

I was hired by Carl at RDU in 2002 and enjoyed working with him until he left due to his illness. Carl was a man of high integrity, unwavering resolve, and a great sense of humor. I will always remember him with the utmost respect and gratitude for his friendship. My prayers are with the Fulp family.

I worked with Mr Fulp at RDU for several years. The best boss that I ever had, I have missed him so much since he left and think about him very often. We had a lot of discussions about everything, he was one of a kind. I will never forget him. My condolences to Mrs.Judy and there family.Charles Barnes

I was saddened to learn of Carl's (Doug's) passing. He was a treasured professional and personal friend, always upbeat, friendly and helpful in all technical matters. May peace descend upon his family during this most blessed season.

Doug and Judy were classmates of mine at Walkertown High School. I always saw Doug as a kind and gentle soul. He and Judy were meant for each other. I am very sorry for your loss, Judy. And I hope that you are doing OK.
