Carolyn Neff Haste
October 27, 1933 – February 11, 2018
Carolyn Sue Neff Haste, 84, of Clemmons, NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Sunday, February 11, 2018. Carolyn was born in Roanoke, VA on October 27, 1933 to the late Leonard Thomas and Carrie Neff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Benjamin Haste on February 23, 1985. She is survived by a sister, Mary Lynn Ortiz, three children; Richard (Rick) Thomas Haste, wife, Donna, Jeffrey Lynn Haste, Lisa Haste Hennigan, husband, Joe, and 8 grandchildren; Allison Haste, Lindsay Haste, Justin Benjamin Haste, Brittany Lynn Haste, Mary Catherine Hennigan, Elizabeth Hennigan, Thomas Hennigan and Peter Hennigan.
Carolyn was a wonderful daughter, mother and friend to many. After marrying “Ben”, in 1951, they began their journey from Roanoke, to California, to Lynchburg, VA and finally to Winston-Salem, NC in 1974. She loved dancing, cross-stitch, knitting, collecting antiques, but her greatest love was cooking. She cooked the old-fashioned way, from scratch. Her green beans were famous to her family and friends. There was only sweet ice tea in the refrigerator. She loved preparing Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts, as well as numerous kinds of Christmas cookies and candies for her family. Carolyn was a huge animal lover too. She had a number of dogs during her life, every one of them as special as the other. She enjoyed bird watching and keeping her feeders full for her feathered friends.
Following an illness in June 2017, Carolyn moved to Clemmons Village II in August. She made numerous friends and loved helping other residents. She enjoyed playing bingo, church services and special music programs. She entered the hospital January 1, 2018 with pneumonia. Upon discharged, she returned to Clemmons Village II where she was wonderfully cared for by their staff, and assistance from Mountain Valley Hospice, Mt. Airy, NC.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will take place on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10:30am at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home in Clemmons, NC. Following the service, a reception will be held in the family room.
Flower donations can be received at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home in Clemmons, NC, or monetary donations can be made to the SPCA or Forsyth County Humane Society
The family would like to say a special “thanks” to all of the staff at Clemmons Village II for the love and compassion shown during this difficult time.

So sorry to hear of Carolyn's passing. She was such a sweet and caring person and a great friend. You and your family are in my prayers. She would be the first to tell me, I am fine and at peace and would be getting plenty of puppy kisses and hugs from Josh and Toshia! Rest in peace my sweet friend!
