He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Husbandry from the University of Nigeria Nsukka at a very young age. Dr. Egwuatu then proceeded to work for the then Ministry of Agriculture in Nigeria for a few years. Afterwards, he travelled to the United States to further his studies. Dr. Egwuatu received a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Sciences from Tuskegee University in Alabama, a Master’s of Science in Animal and Poultry Sciences from Tuskegee University, and a Doctorate in Philosophy from Oregon State University. He served as a college professor in several universities in the United States and Nigeria. Dr. Egwuatu also worked as a microbiologist in several food industries in the United States.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one son, Ike Egwuatu.
Dr. Egwuatu leaves behind his wife, Immaculate “Imma” Egwuatu; daughter, Nneka Egwuatu; sons, Odili, Obie, Onyka, and Ekena Egwuatu; several sisters, brothers, nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
A Celebration of Life and Wake will be on Friday, August 3rd from 5-7pm at the family home. His funeral service will be held Saturday, August 4th at 2pm at Old Town Baptist Church, 4386 Shattalon Dr, with Dr. Pastor Yinka Akinola officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. After the services, a gathering of family and friends will be held at Old Town Baptist Church where a meal will be served. The family requests that all guests wear white to the services. Please no black clothing.
