

Charlie Raleigh Bass, 81, of Winston-Salem, died Saturday (3/5) at Forsyth Medical Center after a short illness. He was born June 10, 1929 in Surry County, NC to the late Emory and Bessie Beamer (Johnson) Bass.
Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his parents, a son Mike, five brothers, and a sister. Surviving family includes his wife Pollyanna; son Tim; daughter and her husband Janet and Jim Clayton; grandchildren Timothy, Lindsey, Amber, Sarah, Jenny, Grayson, Justin, and Ryan; great grandchildren Madelyn and Nolan; brother and his wife Jack and Chlorine; sister and her husband Louise and Chet McCall; sister Sylvia Martin; and special friend Pam Robertson.
He retired from Dennis, Inc. as a warehouse manager and served in the United States Army. Mr. Bass was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church; loved to deer hunt and garden. He always shared his produce with everyone.
A graveside funeral service celebrating the life of Charlie Raleigh Bass, will be conducted on Tuesday (3/8) 11:00 AM at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 5676 Old Walkertown Road, Walkertown (336-595-2101). Pastor Steve Pegram, Forest Hill Baptist Church, will officiate. Family and friends will visit Monday (today) from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Vogler Funeral Home Reynolda Chapel, a Dignity Memorial Provider, 2951 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem (336-722-6106).
