She had retired after many years of work at Pilot Freight Carriers and prior to that, Smitherman Oil Company.
She was a longtime member of Beck’s Baptist Church in Winston-Salem.
Christine was the devoted wife of 63 years to the late Travis “Jack” Queen. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Retha Icenhour and Sue White; daughter-in-law, Susan Williams Queen; and her granddaughter, Susan Lynn Queen.
Christine leaves behind to cherish her memory a son, Jack of Lewisville; daughter, Sheila and husband Larry Nunn of Sharon, SC; sister, Joan McCurry of Valdese, NC; four grandchildren, Cindy Queen of WS, Sharon Vannoy and husband Adam of Clemmons, Amy Queen of Clemmons, Gregg Gaulden and wife Michelle of York, SC; five great grandchildren, Rachel and Luke Vannoy, Alyssa, Tyler, and Gabriel Gaulden; and five nieces and nephews and their spouses.
A service to celebrate Christine’s life will be Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 2:00 p.m., at Vogler and Sons Reynolda Road Chapel in Winston-Salem with the Rev. Larry Nunn and Dr. Carl Minor officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Forsyth Memorial Park in WS.
