

Clyde was born in Forsyth County to the late Clyde Sales and Alma Sales on December 26, 1934. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After the military, he was a long-haul truck driver for many years, then went to work for Ryder Trucking Company as a diesel mechanic from where he later retired.
He was such a helpful person, helping his family and neighbors whenever he could. He loved Carolina Beach, where he lived at certain times of his life, and where he was his happiest. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Jerry Sales.
He is survived by his children, Dana Baker (Chris), Tatshiana Mahaffey (Eddie) and Tyna Goins; grandchildren, Jeffrey Swift Jr. (Nicole), Amber Akers, (David) Matthew Baker (Anna) and Noah Baker (Laura), Curtis Goins (Tesia); great grandchildren, Daniel and Charity Akers; sisters, Hilda McClaugherty (Dennis) and Wanda Russell; special friend and confidant; Billy Edmondson (Toni) .
Private family services will be held and burial at Salisbury National Cemetery.
